Two parents are taking the nation by storm this week. It isn’t Kate and William, it isn’t Kim and Kanye, and it isn’t Honey Boo Boo’s mom and…whoever that guy is. Their names are Harriet and M15, and they are Southwest Florida’s beloved bald eagles whose upcoming egg hatching is one of the most anticipated events of the year.

Expected to hatch before the New Year, these two eggs have been carefully tended to by their devoted parents since they were laid on November 22 and 25. It is critical that the eggs keep a 105 degree temperature to properly develop during the 35 day incubation period.

Once on the brink of extinction, the American bald eagle has made a dramatic comeback. Thanks to habitat preservation efforts and pesticide regulations, they are now a thriving species throughout the United States. Even so, we can’t help but get excited whenever eagle babies are on the way!
