As Congress gathered to certify the Electoral College vote, protestors stormed the Capitol, marched through Statuary Hall and broke windows. Elijah Schaeffer, a BlazeTV reporter posted on Twitter just moments ago: “I am inside Nancy Pelosi’s office with the thousands of revolutionaries who have stormed the building.

To put into perspective how quickly staff evacuated, emails are still on the screen alongside a federal alert warning members of the current revolution.”

“Revolution in process as Trump supporters break into the Capitol building, attacking police, breaking windows, and knocking down doors. Full anarchy at this “mostly peaceful” demonstration DC. The people have pushed through & are storming to main chambers.”

President Trump has tweeted “I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!”

The NY Times reports, Democratic lawmakers said the Capitol Police had instructed them to take cover on the floor and prepare to use gas masks after tear gas was dispersed in the rotunda of the Capitol.
“This is insane,” tweeted Representative Dean Phillips, Democrat of Minnesota.

As protesters circled the House chamber, Representative Steve Cohen, Democrat of Tennessee, yelled out to Republicans: “Call Trump, tell him to call off his revolutionary guards.”

Sen. Tom Cotton has also called for an end to all violence.

According to CNN, An armed standoff was taking place at the House front door as of 3 p.m. ET, and police officers had their guns drawn at someone who is trying to breach it. A Trump supporter was also pictured standing at the Senate dais.

A woman is in critical condition after being shot in the chest on the Capitol grounds, according to two sources familiar with the matter. The sources could not provide further details on the circumstances of the shooting.

There are reports that Mayor Muriel Bowser and Speaker Nancy Pelosi have now requested bringing in the National Guard to Washington DC, and Bowser has announced a citywide curfew from 6 p.m. ET on Wednesday until 6 a.m. ET Thursday.

It’s going to be a long, scary night.
