Giant hat tip to Dilbert creator and social commentator Scott Adams for neatly summing up what happened to Mandolorian actor and former MMA star Gina Carano.

In a tweet today Adams says, “Actress and former MMA fighter Gina Carano has been fired from the cast of the Disney+ Star Wars series The Mandalorian for suggesting that conservatives could get fired these days for voicing their opinions in public. (Yep, really happened.)”

Officially. Carano was fired by Lucasfilm as a result of her “abhorrent” social media posts. The most recent post that actually got her the ax has been taken down, but screenshots of it still exist online.

In the post, Carano said, “Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers, but by their neighbors…even children.”

“Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?”

Carano, who played former Rebel Alliance soldier Cara Dune on The Mandalorian, has drummed up outrage before on social media for her political comments.

She questioned the use of masks in one, sharing a meme saying the government recommends we all wear blindfolds so we can’t see what’s going on.

In another, she voiced support for putting laws in place that protect against voter fraud including requiring IDs to vote.

And she was branded “transphobic” after she listed her pronouns as “beep / bop / boop” on her Twitter bio.

In a subsequent Tweet, Carano defended her actions saying: “They’re mad cuz I won’t put pronouns in my bio to show my support for trans lives. After months of harassing me in every way. I decided to put 3 VERY controversial words in my bio… beep/bop/boop. I’m not against trans lives at all. They need to find less abusive representation.”

She said after a conversation with Mandolorian star Pedro Pascal, she removed her pronouns. Pascal’s younger sibling, Lux (born Lucas) Pascal came out as transgender in 2020.

Carano’s career has been effectively demolished by her outspoken opinions.

The Hollywood Reporter said, “According to sources, Lucasfilm planned to unveil Carano as the star of her own Disney+ series during a December investor’s day presentation but scrapped those plans following her November tweets. Multiple Mandalorian spinoffs are in the works from executive producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, including Rangers of the New Republic, which could have potentially starred Carano.”

She has also been dropped by United Talent Agency who represented her.

Dang, it’s a very scary world out there.
