Well, it’s a new day in the United States, that’s for sure.

Up to 5,000 Guardsmen were forced to sleep on the floor of the Thurgood Marshall Building parking lot, and in a park, outside after they were kicked out of the Capitol Building.

Capitol Police apologized late last night after videos and photos of the troops emerged, along with Guardsman telling news sources the parking lot they were relocated to had a single power outlet, no internet and just one bathroom with two stalls.

Not surprisingly, the scenes sparked immediate outrage as some Guardsmen revealed they felt ‘incredibly betrayed’ after they had just spent more than a week helping to fortify and protect the capital.

Governors of some states, including New Hampshire, Texas and Florida, have ordered the immediate return of their Guardsmen from DC.

You might remember thousands upon thousands of heavily armed National Guard troops were “required” to turn DC into basically an armed fortress to protect it from anticipated violent uprisings during the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

So fearful were lawmakers of insurrection, they even questioned the loyalty of the “mostly white” Guardsman.
On Monday, Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn. said during an interview on CNN, “The [National] Guard is 90 some-odd percent male, and only about 20 percent of White males voted for Biden. You’ve got to figure that in the Guard, which is predominantly more conservative … they’re probably not more than 25 percent of the people there protecting us that voted for Biden. The other 75 percent are in the large class of folks that might want to do something.”

And in fact, after the troops were deployed to DC, the Pentagon announced they would be vetted to determine if any posed a risk of insider attacks to the inauguration.

At least a dozen Guardsmen were removed from the mission after they were found to have “questionable behavior.” Two were removed for texts and comments the Pentagon deemed inappropriate, while the other 10 were removed for behavior flags that “may be unrelated” to the inauguration events.

A Guardsman who spoke to Politico said, “Yesterday dozens of senators and congressmen walked down our lines taking photos, shaking our hands and thanking us for our service. Within 24 hours, they had no further use for us and banished us to the corner of a parking garage. We feel incredibly betrayed.”

Of course, once the photos and videos became public, there was Democrat outrage.

Senator Chuck Schumer, who has assured the nation there will be a full trial of Donald Trump’s impeachable offenses, said the treatment of the National Guard was outrageous and would never happen again.

Alexandria Ocasia-Cortez tweeted that the treatment of the Guardsman was “not okay” and offered snacks from her office.

However, she also retweeted a comment from Mondaire Jones reminding Speaker Kevin McCarthy that American troops are in the Capitol because you, along with 138 other members of your caucus, helped to incite the violent insurrection on January 6th.

Everything and nothing has changed.

God bless America, and all those who serve in the uniform of our nation.
