Ilhan Omar makes shockingly unsurprising comment about drone strike against Iranian general Nine Line News Team January 6, 2020 In The Press, Nine Line News 197 To learn more about our mission, visit: www.ninelineapparel.com In a surprise to exactly no one, Minnesota Rep. and freshman “Squad” member Ilhan Omar, said her fellow Democrats are “outraged” that President Trump would order the assassination of a “foreign official” without telling Congress. A “foreign official?” Omar tweeted her outrage in response to a tweet from Senator Ted Cruz asking “Why are congressional Dems outraged that he’s finally dead? According to the Obama Department of Defense, Qasem Soleimani was a terrorist directly responsible for the murder of over 500 US service men & women. We are outraged the president would assassinate a foreign official, possibly setting off another war without Congressional authorization and has zero plan to deal with the consequences. But of course you know that. https://t.co/GzfdKilV4t — Ilhan Omar (@IlhanMN) January 3, 2020 Military Times says, for decades, Suleimani led Iran’s Quds Force, an elite branch of the Revolutionary Guard that for years supplied Iraq-based insurgents with bombmaking materials, expertise and tactical training. Those attacks targeted U.S. troops from at least 2004 through the war’s end in 2011. Ever-increasing armor protection and countermeasures were met with improved tactics and methods that kept killing troops. Government reports and court filings estimate that at least 1,000 U.S. victims of IED attacks in Iraq can be directly linked to Iranian support through training, materials or employment of the devices. Whatever your feelings about Trump’s decision to take out Suleimani, there’s little doubt he was an enemy of the United States and our allies. And the drone strike that took him out was particularly well-executed. The Daily Mail reports Four precision missiles were fired from a remote-controlled deadly 4,900 pound U.S. drone, decimating the general’s convoy and tearing his body ‘to shreds’. In fact, there was so little left of him after the strike that his body had to be identified by a large ring he often wore. Photos from the scene show a hand with large ring that looks identical to one Soleimani is seen wearing in old photos. The general had just landed at Baghdad International Airport either from Syria and Lebanon when he was met on the tarmac by Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy commander of the pro-Iran Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq and the organizer of the violent attacks on the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. Two cars pulled up to the aircraft steps where Soleimani and Mohammed Ridha Jabri, public relations chief for the PMF who had been traveling with him, climbed inside and were driven away. Not for long though. Moments later, an MQ-9 Reaper drone – a deadly unmanned aircraft designed primarily for offensive strikes – dropped four rockets on the convoy, instantly creating two piles of smoldering metal. Soleimani, Muhandis, Jabri and two others yet to be identified were obliterated. It remains to be seen what consequences the U.S. will reap from this strike, but at least for this moment, it was mission accomplished. Sorry, Rep. Omar.
