Pentagon gives odd reason for officially releasing UFO video footage now Nine Line News Team April 28, 2020 Nine Line News 319 Ever feel like we’re living in a real-life episode of X Files right now? Everyone is walking around in masks and gloves. Strangers stare at you if you get too close. Streets are deserted. Let’s be honest. It’s creepy. But we do know the truth is out there. Or is it? This week, the Pentagon officially released three unclassified videos taken by Navy pilots in 2004 and 2015. The videos have been circulating online unofficially for quite some time, and became public after unauthorized leaks in 2007 and 2017. So why now? Sue Gough, a Defense Department spokeswoman says “After a thorough review, the department has determined that the authorized release of these unclassified videos does not reveal any sensitive capabilities or systems, and does not impinge on any subsequent investigations of military air space incursions by unidentified aerial phenomena.” Okaaaay. Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid – you remember him? The guy who apparently smashed up his eye on his shower door. Or was it an exercise band? — anyway, THAT guy tweeted this week that this “only scratches the surface of research and materials available. The U.S. needs to take a serious, scientific look at this and any potential national security implications. The American people deserve to be informed.” I’m glad the Pentagon is finally releasing this footage, but it only scratches the surface of research and materials available. The U.S. needs to take a serious, scientific look at this and any potential national security implications. The American people deserve to be informed. https://t.co/1XNduvmP0u — Senator Harry Reid (@SenatorReid) April 27, 2020 But why do we have to know about this, this week? Forbes helpfully points out that this is yet another “fact” President Trump questions. President Trump has previously said he doesn’t buy the hype around the unidentified objects. “I did have one very brief meeting on it,” Trump said in an ABC News interview in 2019. “But people are saying they’re seeing UFOs. Do I believe it? Not particularly.” However, when asked if he thought he would know if there were a case of extraterrestrial life, the president replied, “Well, I think my great pilots would know. Our great pilots would know.” And it appears they do. The 2004 incident occurred about 100 miles out in the Pacific, when two fighter pilots on a routine training mission were investigating an unidentified aircraft that a Navy cruiser had been tracking for weeks. The pilots observed an oblong object about 40 feet long hovering about 50 feet above the water, which began a rapid ascent as the pilots approached before taking off away from them. “It accelerated like nothing I’ve ever seen,” one of the pilots said, adding he was “pretty weirded out.” The two other videos of 2015 show footage of objects moving rapidly through the air. In one, an object is shown speeding over the ocean’s surface, prompting an excited, “What the f–k is that?” from one of the pilots. But again, we question the timing of this “official” release, while we’re all being told to shelter in place and dutifully stay in our pens… Sometime around the first century AD, the Roman poet Juvenal commented on the declining heroism of Romans after the Roman Republic ceased to exist and the Roman Empire began. “Two things only the people anxiously desire — bread and circuses.” Juvenal’s wry observation came about as the Roman government kept its citizens placated and docile by distributing free food and entertainment (panem et circenses). Hmm. Just sayin’…
