Unless you’ve been living under a rock the last week or so, you are well aware wealthy perv Jeffrey Epstein apparently died last Saturday morning while in the custody of the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York.

According to reports so far, Epstein died by supposedly hanging himself, but if you find that answer a little extra pungent on the fish fragrance scale, you are not alone.

 

Conspiracy theories are rife regarding the circumstances of Epstein’s death, and it’s easy to see why. Let’s have a quick review of the facts so far:

  1. Epstein’s first cellmate, ex-cop Nicholas Tartaglione, was moved out around July 23rd after Epstein was found on the floor with bruises on his neck. It was unclear how those bruises got there, but Epstein was placed on suicide watch.
  2. For reasons still unknown, Epstein was taken off suicide watch on or around July 29th. He was returned to a cell in the Special Housing Unit where he first was housed.
  3. He was supposedly given a new roommate, but that person was moved, and nobody replaced him.
  4. On the morning of his death, there were supposedly two officers on duty to monitor Epstein. One allegedly had worked four overtime shifts in a week. The other was “augmented” from other duties, which means that person was not appropriately trained.
  5. The “officers” were supposed to check on Epstein every 30 minutes, as required by the protocol set after his release from suicide watch. They did not.
  6. Per the autopsy report Epstein had a broken hyoid bone in his neck which is seen in people who hang themselves, but more common in those who have been strangled.
  7. Epstein’s cause of death is listed as pending and not a suicide, per the office of the New York City’s chief medical examiner Barbara Simpson.

 

The list of rich and famous people who allegedly enjoyed the company of Jeffrey Epstein (and all deny any unsavory cavorting) includes former New Mexico governor Bill Richardson, Alan Dershowitz, modeling agent Jean-Luc Brunel, former U.S. senator George Mitchell, the late MIT scientist Marvin Minsky and Britain’s Prince Andrew, Duke of York.

President William Jefferson Clinton appeared on Epstein’s flight manifests 26 times between 2001 and 2003.

Donald Trump was photographed twice with Jeffrey Epstein 1997, and again in 2000 (along with his wife, Melania).

Does being photographed with Epstein or riding on his plane imply guilt? If that’s the case, add Kevin Spacey and Chris Tucker, who also flew on Epstein’s jet on a trip to Africa (with Clinton).

But talk about small world stories… apparently Attorney General Bill Barr’s father, Donald Barr, gave 21-year-old college dropout, Jeffrey Epstein, a job teaching math and science at the Upper East Side Dalton School, where the elder Barr was headmaster. Apparently, even at 21, Epstein was exhibiting his…proclivities. But should that connection raise eyebrows?

 

And then there’s this, which seems like the strangest conspiracy theory so far.

One reporter, Whitney Webb, has published a multi-part series titled “The Jeffrey Epstein Scandal: Too Big to Fail” saying, “one key aspect of Epstein’s own sex-trafficking and blackmail operation that warrants examination is Epstein’s ties to Israeli intelligence.”

 

Wait, Epstein was a spy for Mossad?

Webb weaves, well, a “web” that appears to tie together Epstein, his alleged procurer, Ghislaine Maxwell, and her late father, Robert Maxwell, who himself died under suspicious circumstances when he “fell” off his yacht, Lady Ghislaine, in 1991.

Webb writes, “it was the Mossad ties of Ghislaine Maxwell’s father that have led many to speculate that Epstein’s sexual blackmail operation was sharing incriminating information with the Mossad.

Epstein was a long-time friend of former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, who has long-standing and deep ties to Israel’s intelligence community.

Barak is also close to Epstein’s (former client, and the man behind Victoria’s Secret) Leslie Wexner, whose Wexner Foundation gave Barak $2 million in 2004 for a still unspecified research program. According to Barak, he was first introduced to Epstein by former Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres, who eulogized Robert Maxwell at his funeral.

In 2015, a few years after Epstein’s release from prison following his conviction for soliciting sex from a minor in 2008, Barak formed a company with Epstein with the chief purpose of investing in an Israeli start-up then known as Reporty. That company, now called Carbyne, sells its signature software to 911 call centers and emergency service providers and is also available to consumers as an app that provides emergency services with access to a caller’s camera and location and also runs any caller’s identity through any linked government database. It has specifically been marketed by the company itself and the Israeli press as a solution to mass shootings in the United States and is already being used by at least two U.S. counties.

Israeli media reported that Epstein and Barak were among the company’s largest investors.

The company’s executive team are all former members of different branches of Israeli intelligence, including the elite military intelligence unit, Unit 8200, that is often likened to Israel’s equivalent of the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA).”

Now, by her own admission, “the picture painted by the evidence is not a direct Epstein tie to a single intelligence agency but a web…” which is perhaps a key to the larger picture of this whole sordid mess.

 

If Epstein was in fact “suicided” – and even his former bodyguard, Igor Zinoviev, says Epstein “had help” killing himself – who had the greatest desire to have him silenced? Perhaps they all did – in a very “Murder on The Orient Express” sort of way – everyone did their part to twist the knife.

But for the sake of Epstein’s victims, let’s not forget the larger issue here. It’s not just the pervy inclinations of one ultra-wealthy creep. As author Summer Brennan wrote, it’s “a system of powerful men using underage girls as luxury goods to offer, trade, etc. There is a world in which this is the norm. A class of (mostly) uber-powerful men who think the rules do not apply to them.”

 

Let’s hope they all get their just desserts.
