Why stockpiling guns and ammo won’t help you if Biden is elected Nine Line News Team October 9, 2020 Nine Line News 696 According to Jim Curcuruto, spokesman for the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), “there has never been a sustained surge in firearm sales quite like what we are in the midst of.” As of July, the NSSF said firearm sales were up 95 percent and ammunition sales up 139 percent in the first half of the year, compared with the same period of 2019. We can only imagine what has happened since then, as Americans worry about security during the pandemic, protests and civil unrest. Interestingly, the NSSF report some 40 percent of this year’s firearm purchases were by first-time buyers, with the strongest growth coming from Black men and women. But is stockpiling firearms and ammunition going to protect you if Joe Biden wins next month and enacts his gun control plan? Well, let’s take a look at his wish list… Put aside the plans to tighten up background checks and other supposed “loopholes” for purchase. Let’s also put aside the rather vague plan to eventually mandate all firearms contain smart gun technology. There are three points of his plan that are particularly disturbing for supporters of the Second Amendment. If a Joe Biden administration takes over in next January, he wants to: 1. Ban the online sale of firearms, ammunition, kits, and gun parts. 2. Limit the number of firearms you may purchase to just one per month. 3. Ban the manufacture and sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. Biden will also use his executive authority to ban the importation of assault weapons. And what exactly qualifies as an ”assault weapon?” Whatever they want it to be. 4. Require individuals who already own semiautomatic rifles, pistols and shotguns with interchangeable magazines, as well as “high capacity” magazines to either participate in a federal buyback program or register these items with the government under the National Firearms Act. This law originally passed in 1934 law currently applies to “machine guns” (i.e. fully automatic firearms), silencers and short-barreled rifles, but under Biden’s plan it would be greatly extended. Bear in the mind the cost of registration is $200 per item plus registration fees. Just off the top of your head, how many semiautomatic weapons do you own? And how many magazines? Now multiply that by $200. If you’re caught violating the NFA you’ll face up to 10 years in federal prison, and a potential $10,000 fine. The problem is, Biden’s plan for gun control risks turning all of us law-abiding gun-owning citizens into felons. Supposedly, the purpose of Biden’s gun control is keeping firearms out of the hands of criminals. How exactly does it help to turn us all into them? Fellow Americans, there are many reasons why people are saying this is the most important election of our lives. It certainly is for gun owners.
